Job Duties:

Assist Head Coach in all aspects of the program during the academic year which include but are not limited to: on and off-court coaching during practices and competitions, mentoring, video analysis, assist with administrative duties including alumni outreach, fundraising, social media, and other duties as assigned.


Recruiting will be an integral responsibility of the position. It will consist mainly of making initial contacts.  Some summer travel will be required. The incumbent will have to be certified annually by the NCAA to recruit off campus.  


Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree and acceptance into the graduate program at Campbell University.

Job Description Summary

The Women’s Tennis Head Coach is responsible for organizing and directing all activities related to the operation of the intercollegiate Women’s tennis program. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 - 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Division I playing or coaching experience preferred

  • Knowledge of NCAA recruiting and compliance rules and procedures, excellent communication skills, strong organizational and leadership skills, and an ability to identify, yield and develop quality student-athletes

  • Proficiency with computers and office software; familiarity with ARMS software, video editing software, and other athletic-specific technology skills preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated success in cultivating relationships with alumni and other program supporters is strongly desirable

  • This position will require driving; therefore, a clean and valid driver’s license must be held at time of employment and maintained thereafter


Responsibility

Coaching – 30%

  • Coach student-athletes in practice sessions and games.  

  • Plan and organize practices, game strategies, and travel with team to away contests.

Recruiting – 30%

  • Identify, evaluate and encourage the application and acceptance of student-athletes in accordance with Ivy League, NCAA, and University policies

Administration – 20%

  • Prepare, administer and monitor team budget and related gift accounts.  

  • Recommend apparel/equipment purchases and other program needs. 

  • Develop plans for the season including competitive schedule, scheduling of facilities, practice schedules and training and conditioning programs. 

  • Undertake public relations, fundraising and promotional activities as appropriate. 

  • Adhere to rules and regulations of the University, Ivy League, and NCAA.

    Function of Position:
       The person in this position will assist the head coach in developing and coordinating a tennis program that is highly competitive in Division III while following the standards and guidelines established by Central College, the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) and NCAA Division III. 


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist the head coach in:
      • teaching student-athlete skill development and mental/motivating techniques

    • Assist the head coach in recruiting and retention of academically qualified student-athletes within the guidelines of Central College, the IIAC and NCAA Division III.
    • Collaborate with admission office staff and counselors for contacts, campus visits, and other recruiting activities
    • Support the program by assisting in the organization and supervision of:
      • Fundraising activities
      • Camps and clinics
    • Attend staff development opportunities and coach's meetings
    • Perform other related duties as assigned


    Supervision:  
     Performed under the general supervision and standard practice of Central College.  


    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree, with one to three years of experience coaching preferred.
    • Strong communication skills required
    • First Aid/CPR/AED certified or ability to obtain certification within six months required
    • Ability to travel; night and week-end work required
    • Valid driver's license and the ability to be insured to drive college vehicles required

    Belmont Abbey College, an NCAA Division II institution and member of the Conference Carolinas, invites applications for the current position of Tennis Operations/Assistant Tennis Coach. 

    Job Responsibilities

    The successful candidate for this full-time, twelve-month position will work with the head coach to support all aspects of an established collegiate tennis program, including, but not limited to, recruitment of qualified student-athletes, monitoring academic progress toward degree, competition and practice preparation, individual and program development, facility maintenance, fundraising, community activity, along with other duties as assigned.     Qualifications

    RESPONSIBILITIES 

    1. Planning 

    i. Plan, develop and implement a successful performance system in line with Tennis Ireland values
    ii. Develop a four-year strategy and annual high-performance operational plans for

    iii. Prepare formal progress reviews as required and report to the Board of TI 

    2. Organisation and Management 

    i. Ensure the provision of optimal coaching, science medicine and lifestyle support to athletes on the high-performance programme

    4. Competition Programme 

    i. Ensure the annual competition programme is planned and documented in advance 
    ii. Ensure that arrangements and support at competitive events funded or organized by Tennis Ireland allow performance athletes to perform to their full potential 
    iii. Attend all competition committee meetings to provide input and ensure the national training schedule matches up with domestic competition schedule 
    iv. Attend major domestic tournaments and international tournaments on a regular basis 
    v. Must remain informed of any changes to international tours, tournaments, rating and rankings that could impact Irish players 

    5. Talent Identification and Development 

    i. Develop, communicate and ensure the effective implementation of an appropriate talent identification, development and high performance programme across our four provincial branches 
    ii. Monitor and support provincial performance officers 
    iii. Design the strategic development plan for the performance centers 

    6. Athlete Welfare 

    i. Ensure the well-being and fair treatment of all athletes in the high-performance programme 
    ii. Ensure that appropriate support services (sport science, medical, psychological and other) are available to athletes and coaches as required 
    iii. Ensure that Sport Ireland Anti-Doping guidelines are integrated, and understood by all those involved in the high-performance programme 
    iv. Assist athletes to pursue career qualifications and/or experience where practical 
    v. Provide support to athletes regardless of their training set up domestically or internationally 

    7. Budget 

    i. Prepare an annual high-performance budget and secure key stakeholder approval ii. Ensure that the high-performance programme stays within its approved budget 

    8. Stakeholder Management 

    i. Ensure that effective relationships are developed and maintained with key stakeholders 
    ii. Work closely with Sport Ireland and Sport Ireland Institute 
    iii. Work closely with the individual coaches and college coaches of Ireland’s elite players 
    iv. Work closely with CEO and Commercial Manager on sponsorship and facility decisions which impact High-Performance tennis in Ireland 
    v. Co-ordinate and attend all High-Performance committee meetings 

    9. Coach Education 

    i. Mentor and support provincial coaches and top club coaches where possible 
    ii. Liaise with TI tutors to ensure that the content provided on courses is in line with regional and club high performance set-ups 
    iii. Coordinate specific teamed workshops to support the performance teams in the provincial programmes 
    iv. Develop camps and workshops for coaches to attend with their players at times throughout the calendar year

    Summary: Christopher Newport University seeks a highly motivated and energetic individual to become part of a top 25 Division III tennis program.The Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach will assist in all aspects of running a highly competitive tennis program. Duties of the Assistant Coach include daily practice oversight and/or participation, individual workouts prior to practice, limited recruiting correspondence, and assisting in other duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Position will require evening and weekend work and travel.  


    Primary Responsibilities:

    1. Observing and/or participating in daily practices (fall and spring)

    2. Individual player workouts before practices as assigned/requested

    3. Assist in planning practice and outlining player development progression

    4. Assist in the recruiting process as assigned by Head Coach

    5. It is expected that these duties be performed within the NCAA, CAC, and University guidelines

    Compensation: CNU will provide a base salary for the position and opportunities to teach lessons as part of camps/clinics associated with the tennis program. There is also an opportunity for substantial additional income as part of an agreement with our indoor facility partner, where the assistant coach will also be able to work part time at the facility with both hourly and lesson compensation available. It is reasonable to be able to earn 25-35k between the 2 positions, working reasonable hours.

    The Director of Player Development and College Readiness will a) connect the dots for our junior players, their families and coaches on the world of college tennis; b) facilitate relationships with all colleges and universities in the section with prospective student-athletes; c) work with USTA Player Development in Carson to identify and support the development of elite players or potentially elite players throughout the SoCal region. 



    Job Duties 

    • Establish a USTA SoCal Player Development program in concert with the USTA PD Player ID and Development department located at Training Center West in Carson, CA 
    • Bridge the gap between the SoCal community and USTA PD efforts 
    • Cultivate a relationship with private programs/coaches within the Section with a goal of creating a unified culture and development of a pool of candidates for coaching education opportunities 
    • Restructure or reintroduce a Coaches Commission. 
    • Develop and facilitate USTA So Cal Player Development Camps and High-Performance initiatives, including Team USA Camps and Early Development Camps

    Requirements:

    • Advanced knowledge and experience with tennis, player development and college tennis 
    • Advance knowledge or development of a clear understanding of the Player ID and Development pathway and structure, as well as USTA Player Development Teaching and Coaching philosophy 
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written 
    • Strong computer skills with intermediate Google Suite and Microsoft programs (Access, Word, Excel, etc.) 
    • Take the HPCP Course within the first 6 months 
    • Participate in PD meetings in Orlando

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach is responsible for the recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes. The head coach, in addition to all the requirements detailed in the responsibilities and duties section, is recognized as pivotal to, and responsible for, the record of the program as it relates to competitive scheduling, university/community relations and the enhancement and academic achievement of the student-athletes.


    RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: 

    1. Directs all phases of the management and administration of the men’s and women’s tennis program.
    2. Adheres to and enforces all policies, procedures and guidelines of the University and the athletics department.
    3. Adheres to, along with assistant coaches and support personnel, the compliance of all University, NCAA and other conference association rules and regulations.
    4. Directly responsible for the retention and graduation of the student-athletes and coordinates with the academic liaison.
    5. Responsible for all areas of the sport’s budget including, recruiting, travel, and equipment.
    6. Schedules and conducts regular practice sessions as allowed by the NCAA and University guidelines. Utilizes sound teaching techniques in the preparation of games and practices.
    7. Coordinates all scheduling with the sport administrator.
    8. Coordinates team travel with and submits all budget requests to the Business Manager.
    9. Formalizes and executes an alumni outreach plan with the sport administrator.  Coordinates fundraising initiatives (events, individual outreach) with the AD and sport administrator for the purpose of enhancing the operating budget and endowed scholarships.
    10. Oversees the conditioning and training of the student-athletes in conjunction with the sports medicine staff and adheres to all policies and procedures within the University’s health and safety program.
    11. Develops and implements strategies for motivating student-athletes to perform at their best.
    12. Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recruiting potential student-athletes.
    13. Initiates the process for recommending financial athletic aid, the National Letter of Intent and the non-renewal/renewal scholarship recommendations.  All documentation for non-renewal of disciplinary suspensions is the responsibility of the head coach.
    14. Conducts the performance evaluation of the assistant coaches and is the primary recruiter and recommends to the Athletic Director all hiring of staff members.  Also monitors and coordinates the professional conduct of all coaches and support staff.
    15. Participates in public relations activities and works closely with the University’s athletic communications, marketing and fundraising programs. Attends athletic development/alumni functions, academic/athletic honors and other special events as designated by the University. Represents the sport program in the community as appropriate.
    16. Complies with policies and procedures set forth by Adelphi University, the Northeast 10 Conference, and the NCAA.
    17. Responsible for knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.  If found responsible for a violation of NCAA regulations, will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action, including termination if appropriate.  Also may be responsible for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the University has violated an NCAA regulation.
    18. Position requires working weekends and holidays.
    19. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation.

Camp Winadu offers a variety of sports including tennis, waterskiing, sailing, basketball, baseball, golf, soccer, ice hockey, lacrosse, etc… We are looking for motivated individuals who will be on court with the tennis director for approximately 6-8 hours per day; tennis instructors receive one day off per week. Tennis Director will provide all the drills, and there will be opportunities each day to work on your tennis game as the tennis staff consists of college players and teaching professionals from across the country. There is a fully equipped weight room on campus, a staff lounge equipped with computers, the biggest swimming pool in the Berkshire Mountains, and some of the best facilities you can utilize to improve yourself.

     

    Compensation:  $250-$300 per week, room and board, and a travel allowance to and from camp; this experience can also be used as a paid internship. Once you arrive to camp, you will have no expenses.

    Bachelor’s Degree and five years of collegiate coaching experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League regulations.

Ability to work in a diverse work environment and ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with school administrators, parents, students and alums.
